1,500 Mile Kayaking Journey Covered In The New York Times

The story of a 26 year-old photographer and 65 year-old author embarking on a 1,500 kayaking adventure is definitely one for the history books. The two have already been nominated for “Adventurers of the Year” by National Geographic and the New York Times wrote a great piece about their adventure earlier this week.

kayaking_arcticOne of the most incredible things about this story is that the two adventurers hardly knew each other before they started! The kayaking duo had their work cut-out for them as they headed towards their final destination – Ellesmere, a tiny island in the Canadian Arctic. Of course when you’re out in the arctic there’s a good chance you won’t be spending as much time in your kayak as you might think.

In the case of this adventure, the two kayakers had to carry their kayaks across a rugged and unforgiving landscape. If you love kayaking like all of us here at Kayaking.org then you’ll love this story. Honestly the New York Times really does kick-out butt at telling it so we recommend you head over there and read this story, it’s one heck of a great adventure from two courageous paddlers!
